Mind Body & Spirit exhibition – 2007 Paphos

We skip the history…. Neanderthals, Ötzi, mummies of Egypt..
Let us speak in brief 15 minutes about the major painful joint and tissue disorders. Than we speak about what are alternatives to school medicine and I would like to take somebody from the audience to show how a testing can give answers for the best treatment.
Present statistics….. 70 % of people over the age of 65 suffer under one form of joint pain – 22 % of people over the age of 18 suffer already….. There are several diseases where joint pain is primary, and is considered the main feature. Generally when a person has "arthritis" it means that they have one of these diseases, which include:
ARTHRITIS OSTEOARTHRITIS (ARTHROSES) RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS
GOUT SEPTIC ARTHRITIS
Arthritis is a form of joint disorder that involves inflammation of one or more joints. It is an acute process that is why it shows symptoms of heat, red, joint stiffness, swelling and pain. The pain from arthritis is due to inflammation that occurs around the joint, damage to the joint from disease, daily wear and tear of joint, muscle strains caused by forceful movements against stiff, painful joints and fatigue.
Osteoarthritis in German speaking countries called Arthroses is the degenerative stage of the Arthritis. It can be the result of a trauma to the joint, infection of the joint and age (wear and tear). It is the cold form of Arthritis, the chronic form and x-ray pictures show abrasion and destruction of the joint. Osteoarthritis begins in the cartilage and eventually causes the two opposing bones to erode into each other. Initially, the condition starts with minor pain while walking but soon the pain can be continuous and even occur at night. Osteoarthritis typically affects the weight bearing joints such as the back, spine, and pelvis.
Other arthritis forms are rheumatoid arthritis a disorder which causes the body’s immune system to attack the bone or tissues. In rheumatoid arthritis, most damage occurs to the joint lining and cartilage which eventually results in erosion of two opposing bones. Rheumatoid arthritis often affects joints in the fingers, wrists, knees and elbows. The disease is symmetrical (appears on both sides of the body) and can lead to severe deformity in a few years. Rheumatoid arthritis occurs mostly in people aged 20 and above. Often, it is not clear why the rheumatoid arthritis occurred. With earlier diagnosis and aggressive treatment, many individuals can lead a decent quality of life. The drugs to treat rheumatoid arthritis range from corticosteroids to monoclonal antibodies given intravenously. In rare cases, surgery may be required to replace joints but there is no cure for the illness.
Arthritic disorders like lupus and rheumatoid arthritis can also affect other organs in the body with a variety of symptoms. Inability to use the hand or walk , fever, weight loss, poor sleep, malaise and tiredness. Arthritis can make it very difficult for the individual to remain physically active, contributing to an increased risk of obesity, high cholesterol or vulnerability to heart disease. Individuals with arthritis are also at increased risk of depression, which may be related to fear of worsening symptoms.
Gout is characterized by recurrent attacks of acute inflammatory arthritis—a red, tender, hot, swollen joint. The joint at the base of the big toe is the most commonly affected (approximately 50% of cases). However, it may also present as tophi, kidney stones, or urate nephropathy. It is caused by elevated levels of uric acid in the blood which crystallizes and the crystals are deposited in joints, tendons, and surrounding tissues.
1 – 2 % of the western population is affected at some point of their life. There is an increase due to life stile and metabolic syndrome. Gout was historically known as "the disease of kings" or "rich man's disease". As treatment Colchicine (used in homöopathy) is used as treatment as well as anti-inflammatory drugs and steroids.
Long time statistics could prove that only 12 % of a tested group reacted positive on changing of diet.
Septic arthritis caused by joint infection
Bacteria are carried by the bloodstream from an infectious focus elsewhere, or introduced by a skin lesion that penetrates the joint.
Reasons are injury or it is even common happing during an operation,
· Micro-organisms must reach the synovial membrane of a joint
Bacteria that are commonly found to cause septic arthritis are:
· Streptococci - the second most common cause – in about 15 %
· Haemophilus influenzae -
· Neisseria gonorrhoea - in young adults
· Escherichia coli - in the elderly
· M. tuberculosis, Salmonella spp. and Brucella spp. - cause septic spinal arthritis
As a virus the borrelia-virus which is spread by infected ticks can be sometimes found.
Mycosis and fungicidal form are rare but existing.
School medicine up to today cannot cure or heal any of those forms. There are several types of medications that are used -Treatment typically begins with medications that have the fewest side effects. If this proves to be insufficient other medications are added to be effective
Joint pain can also be a symptom of other diseases. In this case, the arthritis is considered to be secondary to the main disease; these include for example Hepatitis, Lyme disease, Psoriasis, many diseases with vasculitis syndromes
What alternative treatment is possible and can I offer you……
Testing is quite important to find out what bothers the body most and where to start with treatment
That is why I start with a kinesiology – test……
- Detox (test for toxins in the body)
- Test for bacteria or viruses
- Test for best diet
- Test of client’s medication and if side-effects can be reversed
- Test for lack of enzymes and amino acids (as well as vitamins and trace elements)
- reduction of painkillers with alternatives
Following amino acids are found at low level in patients with joint pain.
Histadine – supplementation reduces joint inflammation – reduces a s well side-effects of painkiller which is gastric inflamm. (has to be taken controlled – too much is causing allergies and hay fever)
In gelatine, dairy products pwanuts sunflower seeds – 4g per day recommended
Phenylalanine – helps with persistent pain caused by backache and arthritis since it supports the production of endorphins (natural painkiller) it works as well as anti depressant and makes adrenal and thyroid hormones. In gelatine, cheese, peanuts, almonds and oats. One gram three times a day is suggested for pain relief and depression
Glycine - helps breaking down the uric acid in the kidneys – and therefore needed for treatment of gout and osteoarthritis and even proved by long time studies. It is as well proved in studies that as supplement it reduces significantly symptoms of schizophrenia.
It is found in gelatine, buckwheat flour, walnuts, almonds and sunflower seeds.
S:O.D. – Superoxide Dismutase
Very successful as injection in the joint. Will be digested in the stomach……
